The Western world should avoid Pakistan being both an example and a painful warning
against the way in which intolerance is legitimized to Christians. Islamist radicalism which gangrene the society must not extinguish any process of reform.
How in Pakistan do a minority of radical Islamists want to put themselves aboveof the law in wishing that Asia Bibi be sentenced to death simply because she is a Christian. Yet the Pakistan Supreme Court was very brave in acquitting Asia Bibi demonstrating that the “blasphemy” of which she is accused is a false pretext. Is the Islamization of Pakistani society not compatible with non-Muslim populations? How pluralist regimes in which religion and politics were distinct intolerance and persecution of minorities and how do they go to live in the countries of others.
