Tigray or Amhara, they are Ethiopians

All over Africa youths are shocked to hear about Ethiopia being torn apart by tribalism. Many of them heard for the first time the words Amhara and Tigray. Many thought of Ethiopia as a symbol of African unity, for which all African youths are yearning. Now the headlines are Oromo this, Amhara that, Tigray, Afar and other such tribal names coming ahead of the legendary name Ethiopia. However, Amhara and Tigray are not only brothers, in massive numbers they are either married to each other, or have family members from each other’s ethnicity. This is not a genetic story. Amhara and Tigray are just languages. Just like Arab and Berber in North Africa. Genetically historically and culturally they are one people. Linguistic variants among one same people should not lead a nation to break apart through war and enmity. We do not believe a person is Tigray or Amhara, they are Ethiopians. And they are as individual persons either good or bad. Africa refuses to hear anything else. We did not fight colonial racism to see it reborn as political tribalism.
Cultures must be respected, not turned into tools of conflict and division.
This attack on African integrity is caused by a fear of African leadership on an international level. Those aggressing Africa today are trying to slow the inevitable.
The moral example carried by Africa as a united humanity within its diversity
is exactly what they are trying to mock and undo. This is why it is time for Ethiopia to rise beyond the dark cloud of tribalism. Not only for Ethiopia and not just for Africa but for all of humanity.
