Ruth the Moabite or the critique of ethno-Judaism.

Mendelssohn inspires an intellectual current known as Haskala (intelligence) whose proponents, the maskilim, want to improve the lot of the Jews by education and free them from the ghetto. In a word, Moses Mendelsshon sets out to bring out a theory of Judaism as history. For him from the moment that Jewish texts exist, begins a pluralist debate; debate which is the essence of all history. It analyzes the problem, the foundations, ideological approaches and functions. Moïse Mendelsshon is considered the leader of the critical current of ethnojudaime For him, ethno-Judaism is a thought that wrongly takes itself for a meta-thought, an ethno-Judaism which, rather than providing its own justifications takes refuge lazily behind a tradition and projects into this tradition its own theses, its own views. From the point of view of its genesis, ethnophilosophy was already in the making. ethnojudaism, just as exclusion proposes to identify and account for a thought, a culture, in a word, a unanimist civilization which,
in reality exists nowhere except in the thought of the seeker himself. This proceeds in his eyes from a confusion of a popular, ideological use of concept of ethnic Judaism and a less rigorous and scientific use. Indeed in each society there is a spontaneous thought conveyed by literature oral and translating into the concrete life of the group through existential attitudes such as customs, traditions, rites and behaviors
all sorts. This thought of Moïse Mendelsshon is a vision of the world, a system of representation of the world underlying the behavior of the individual and the group.
It is about a stable element which subsists to change, to evolution, it is as it were innate, substantial to the subject. In this respect, ethnophilosophy escapes
at the time, it was an unconscious philosophy, buried in the collective psyche thus marking a cultural identity of the group. But from this angle,
nor is it a philosophy, but an aptitude for philosophizing it which, moreover, is present in all human societies. However, Mendelssohn inspires an intellectual current known as Haskala (intelligence) whose proponents, the maskilim, want to improve the lot of the Jews by education and freeing them from the ghetto, Judaism in the theoretical and scientific sense is a specific discipline in human knowledge, it is a particular discipline having a particular object and a determined method. A discipline taking shape in a Jewish massorah, because for him the Talmudic form is the only conceivable form of Jewish historical existence and the only condition of its development and
of his progress in any society.
