The former Sephardic chief rabbi of Israel was hospitalized a few days ago after being tested positive for the coronavirus.
The rabbi suffered from previous illnesses and his condition therefore gradually deteriorated throughout throughout the day.
Rabbi Eliyahu Bakshi-Doron z’l died Sunday at the age of 79 of coronaviruses.
The rabbi’s health deteriorated during his treatment at Shaare Sedek.
Rabbi, born in Jerusalem, began his career in Bat Yam, was known to promote dialogue
between religions and to reject violence.
