Purim : the Chief Rabbi to the France Jewish community

A year ago, and despite our warnings, the Jewish community celebrated Purim without always respecting the rules that we advocated with tragic consequences.
Judaism has always placed the values of hope very high and this is the reason why we call on each and every one of you to celebrate this Purim in joy, strictly respecting the measures put in place to allow the services. in the best possible sanitary conditions.
The synagogues will be open to all of you, adults and children, to hear the reading of the Megillah. This will of course be impacted by the curfew conditions at 6:00 p.m.
Regarding the reading of the Megillah on the evening of Purim, Thursday February 25, it can take place from the Plag Haminha, that is to say between 5:01 p.m. and 5:25 p.m., depending on the city where we are, like our dayanim offered it to us. It is understood that this reading will be accompanied by that of the customary blessings.
Of course, this requires a bit faster reading in order to finish before the curfew time. But the end of the Megillah reading will not mean the end of the fast, which will end according to the set time, around 7 p.m. We continue to urge all of you to ensure that all the rules of the health protocol are respected more than ever: wearing a mask, physical distancing (free places), hand washing, prior registration, cancellation of all parties organized in the community. . We must be careful with the Michloah Manot, who should limit what is essential (one per person) and reserve the Purim meal, the Michté, for the family nucleus only. We must not show any sign of slacking off in our vigilance and in our actions. This feast is one of joy and the victory of good over evil and we hope that our commitment to live these moments by sharing them will bring about deliverance from this pandemic and all the ills of our society.
