Prayer for the other

Our Elders have taught us a fundamental principle for finding happiness.
They say “… whoever prays for his friend is answered first.”
We know Psalms “Hashem, you open my lips, and my mouth expresses your praise.”
We must thank Hashem who gives us the breath of life to pray.
So we must also thank Hashem for opening the lips of those who pray for us.
Because it is through their prayers that Hashem makes us live and prosper.
Sometimes they are ancestor prayers that we have never known.
It is through prayer that everything receives its vitality.
Because it is written:
“And the grass of the field did not grow yet because there was no human to work the Earth ..” (Genesis).
The Zohar says that this work of the Earth is actually prayer.
Without prayer nothing happens.
Our desires for justice, equality, happiness for all humanity are prayers, and come from other prayers made before we come to Earth.
Our gratitude to the Creator is never separated from our thanks for opening the lips of our ancestors, our loved ones and our friends for our good.
