It’s not easy these days when people with Israel are going through crises and waves and the sense of uncertainty about our fate in the near future and certainly in the more distant future depends on us. In the days when news for mornings we hear about factual events and scenarios around us that, as a matter of course, only the imagination could have led us there. I am reminded of the language routine of my dear grandmother and the pardon of the late pardon Nachmani in my childhood who repeatedly says “my son in the end of days you will see what you have never seen and hear what you have never heard”! In fact, all these events that pass us by the days before we were predicted and already our ancestors and all the scriptures have prepared us all in written and oral teachings that will come days of sorts when they will finally start to run at a dizzying pace and accelerate the ropes of birth and the redemption paths that open. “It commanded Aaron and his sons to say that the law of the leaf was brought up on the altar all night until the cattle, and the altar fire was set therein” (Leviticus and verse 2)
“And the fire on the altar shall be put on it shall not be extinguished …” and in the next verse immediately following “Fire always on the altar shall not extinguish” (Leviticus chapter 5 and 6).
We know that the shape of the temple is analogous to the structure of the human body and in its acceptance and symmetry that the copper altar corresponds to the human heart and which the Torah said “and the fire on the altar will not be extinguished.” The copper altar which was an altar whose purpose was to make sacrifices in the temple was with the help of the priests outside the temple and also in the tabernacle the altar was outside a tent in the court of the Tabernacle. The divine fire that would come down from the sky in the form of a lion on the altar to eat the sacrifices teaches us that our hearts too should be worshiped by the Divine fire all night, that is, at all times the darkness of the exile’s love and fear must fill the void of hearts if we are able to overcome the lion heroically. The dark ones who are constantly trying to chill the sacred faith and love of God and fear in our hearts and set fire to it with a foreign fire in order to remove the God from us. All the name asks of us is the heart’s work as the Sages article: “The Holy One is the Heart of Israel” or “Rahmana Liba Bayi” and the verse reads: “And have made me a temple and dwell in them.” In days when many are in isolation because of the danger, these days In which the midrash houses are closed and people are closed in their homes and cannot pray in the minyan, we must remember that not the “commandments of learned men” Gd asks but the true work of the heart…
