FJN welcomes the appointment of Kobi Shabtai as the new Director General of the Israeli Police. We have a very positive and favorable a priori to the arrival of Kobi Shabtai at the head of the National Police without however, sign a blank check. The FJN does not doubt the new Director General’s will to open up with citizens in order to find the most effective solutions, adapted to social ill-being with a quality of open and constructive social dialogue alongside the Minister of Internal Security Amir Ohana whose social pedagogy we have been appreciating for a while. We hope that for him, the management of crises and social dialogue are not carried out with forceps and divisions. A man of experiences and skill, Kobi Shabtai knows the police house very well, we are told. Kobi Shabtai arrives in a particularly difficult and tense context with a situation linked to the COVID crisis Social anger and unrest are still there, but the unity of the nation will always come above all else.
