Israel: at least five dead in a terrorist attack

At least five people were killed Tuesday night in an attack near Tel Aviv in Israel. A man shot passers-by in Bnei Brak, a town populated almost exclusively by ultra-Orthodox Jews. The shooter killed by Israeli police has been identified as a 26-year-old Palestinian from Jenin in the West Bank. These attacks come at a time when meetings are multiplying in an attempt to ease tensions as Ramadan approaches, the month of Muslim fasting which must start this weekend. In 2021, clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian demonstrators during Ramadan in Jerusalem, in particular on the esplanade of the Mosques, a holy Muslim place under the administration of Jordan, led to a deadly eleven-day war between Hamas, in power in Gaza, and the Israeli army. Currently, there are at least 100,000 weapons among Israeli Arabs.
