Chief Rabbi Sacks and the prospect of a future morality

On the loss of moral values in our societies, the Chief Rabbi Sacks calls on us to respect certain social moral values. We are increasingly seeing the loss of moral values in our contemporary societies and the rise of individualism.

Chief Rabbi Sacks emphasized the vital role of society in educating its component. The whole social fabric serves as a framework for action. Everyone should be concerned with education and should have a special place. Its structuring and modification are based on changes in customs and the interpretation of social values. According to him, “the field of education is for any society the cornerstone of the construction of its future. And for a given society, it is through education that it is perpetuated in its physical and social being. The community formed in the immanence of interhuman connections prevails over the transcendent logical-political objectity. To do this, the dual-level theory of the German philosopher Jürgen Habermas seems to inspire us. It is therefore important that moral education takes into account not only the lived world but also integrates the values which correspond to the different systems. Education must have a strong collective character, a comprehensiveness at the level of society. As for Jürgen Habermas “During our development, we have seen that the responsibility of society which must be a model for the young generation, just as the taking into account of the different social systems and the return to certain moral values will be beneficial in the perspective of a future morality”. We also see this idea with Sartre and Proudhon.
